ENCAPsulate 2024.
Dr Wendy Lennon was delighted to open the School of English, Communication and Philosophy’s ENCAP conference at the University of Cardiff in June 2024.
In her keynote, Dr Wendy Lennon outlined the principles which underpin her ‘Shakespeare, Race & Pedagogy’ education initiative. Interdisciplinarity is a key principle of her approach to teaching and learning. The interconnectedness of literature, geography and history informed the methodological approach to her doctoral research at the Shakespeare Institute. Through the keynote, Lennon revealed the research journey she embarked upon to re-member, re-connect, and reconcile the seemingly disparate triangulation of themes, epochs, and locations in her PhD thesis ‘Autonomy, Migration and Transculturality: From Peele, Shakespeare and Gay to the Windrush Generation’. The catalyst for this Literary-Geohistorical enquiry project was a collision of literary, geographical, and historical migrations which resonate with the past, the present and looks ahead to the future of literary analysis.
